“Go Inside” is a piece by composer and film maker Clara Latham, comprised of images captured by a standard black and white security camera. Throughout the piece, the camera remains (with the exception of two short shots) in a stationary position overlooking a sparsely decorated room. For the sound design, I wanted to match the voyeuristic and strained feeling that the security camera visually provides. Using a toy key-tar, I isolated several high-pitched tones in ProTools and stretched and compressed them to various lengths and densities. I created brief tones to signal movement and character changes and longer, more drone like sounds to propel the action within the longer cuts. I also attempted, in this film, to experiment with foley, creating seemingly diegetic sounds (in this instance, footsteps of the dual antagonists) in order to create a false reality during the middle of the piece. |
